Quill
I was born at the right time.
I went to the right places.
I met the right people.
I am a queer man living in Columbus, Ohio. I am a witch living
between the worlds. I am a joyful teacher of children. I am a
playful spirit granting laughter where I can.
I began studying paganism relatively recently (5 years? Could it be
6?) In this time I have learned many small things and one or two
important things.
Ten small things that I have learned:
1) Gerald Gardner, while due respect, obviously never had a
kindergarten teacher tell him that lying was bad.
2) A surprising number of contemporary pagans seem to, miraculously
enough, be reincarnated priests from Atlantis.
3) Atlantis must have had MANY, MANY priests.
4) Green draws money, despite the fact that most currency used in
the world today is not green. Go figure.
5) Dancing sky-clad around a bonfire at midnight is amoung the
greater pleasures given to us by the goddess. (Even if it does
leave you smelling slightly. . . askew.)
6) A surprising number of pagan rites sound as if they were written
by Shakespeare. Or Kit Marlowe. Apparently “thee”s and “thou”s
make you holy.
7) Cinnamon oil BURNS your skin somethin’ fierce. And not in the
good ‘candle-wax’ way.
8) Reiki is a wonderful tool and can do wonders. But I STILL
prefer a good old-fashioned backrub.
9) Pagans truly are amazingly creative. Our arts and crafts kick
royal ass. (Much better than the arts and crafts that come out of
some of the local senior centers.)
10) What’s the difference between a straight man and a gay man? A
six-pack of beer. What’s the difference between a straight pagan
and gay pagan? A full moon and a drum circle.
Five BIG things that I have learned:
1) The universe is a far more mysterious and beautiful place than
most people understand.
2) Each and every one of us has the power to change the world for
the better.
3) I am not sure if the god and goddess are real. Or if they have
names and faces. But I DO know that when I pray, it brings me
comfort.
4) There are NO coincidences.
5) I may tease the pagan populations mercilessly, but there is no
other group of people who make me feel as safe, loved, taught and
honored. I love ever last pachoulli-smelling one of them.
Blessed Be.
Quill.
